  • Working side-by-side with the program manager responsible for the installation of tools for a large semiconductor fabrication plant, completing it on time at ~40% below projected costs, notwithstanding continuously changing scope. The team of more than 2,200 craftspeople coordinated the installation of hundreds of tools costing $25-$100 million each.

  • In one of many utility company engagements, he helped the responsible team to complete dozens of projects with an overall result for the company of more than 19% more power than had been promised to the regulator with costs >15% less than allowed, all in less than one year’s time.

  • He laid out practices that led to reducing cycle times for building £10B worth of new wind farm capacity by ~25%.

  • He helped shape the development of a new online retail bank that opened in 10 months, including approval by bank regulators. The bank subsequently took ~15% share of its market in less than 24 months.

"A formidably important feature of holding on to big questions is avoiding the temptation to put more attention on answers than on the space for inquiry that questions open. I like to joke that when asked questions, Americans regularly make a terrible mistake. What mistake? We answer the questions! And at the moment that the answers appear the listeners get satisfied and the questions disappear."
